Multimode Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VCSELs) have been designed, epitaxially grown, fabbed and tested for high-reliability applications, such as aerospace and military applications by the Inneos design team in Zephyr Cove, NV. These same design principles that apply to the VCSELs designed for space are applied to our multiple wavelength VCSELs that enable our Course Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) optics, or more simply called the WaveStackingTM technology. The WaveStacking optic allows multiple channels to be simultaneously transmitted on a single fiber for very high-bandwidth links on a single fiber.
The next generation of VCSEL components under development will support 25 Gbps and even 28 Gbps data rates. These components are also undergoing rigorous testing and qualification, as we expect superior performance and reliability for all of our products.
